![]() This is a type of setup which never fails. I think this is applied to Hellenics, Romans and Carthage. Cultural provinces are the best imo, since they dont consume food, provide a better public order so you can set taxes at maximum, the income gets increased the more Imperium you have, your generals can be trained as future governors to get even more cultural income (Hellenics´zeal branch) and if you give promotions to women, the income from entertainment buildings gets increased throughout the empire. Syria, Bythinia & Pontus, Bosphorus are nice options for this approach, but bear in mind that these buildings consume food. For instance, Bythinia & Pontus has 3 ports, but Nicomedia´s is in the Aegean, whilst Sinope and Trapezos share it with Phasis, so you would need to control the whole Aegean and Phasis alongside this province. but only if you control the sea region to get the most revenue. ![]() The more ports a province has, the more suitable it is for making it a trade province, especially if it has a settlement that provides trade income such as Wine. ![]() As long as you keep them in check to prevent slave revolts, this is probably the best way to make up for the income penalties due to corruption. In addition to this, I build slave markets everywhere and always enslave my enemies. For instance, if you conquer Magna Graecia, Italia also receives a food bonus per settlement (not income bonus from food), so Italia consumes less food than it would for a 4 settlement province. Besides, if you conquer the regions which are around these provinces, they get the food bonus too. Egypt (the best), Africa, Pannonia, Dacia, Mesopotamia and Magna Graecia are priorities in my campaigns to establish a reliable food source and build more profitable buildings elsewhere. That gives you a plethora of food and a nice revenue, especially if you build slave market and have a decent slave population. Your food provinces should be those which have Grain settlements, since that provides a nice bonus and food income boost (if you build grain buildings, not livestock and such). Build the military provinces in 2-3 settlements provinces which are not amongst the richest, such as Illyria, Cilicia, unless for some reason you prefer a 4th settlement in which build something that provides a better bonus for recruitment, such as Ares´s temple, but normally it does not compensate. I dont have a guide per se, just a few advices of mine: If its too costly food wise to have a province like this, then you can just disable tax on it and the food requirement disappears. Eventually ill build all the red buff buildings and idk if there is yet, but sometimes factions have temples which buff units too. Again WIP from my current Parthia campaign. Usually 1 to begin with, but if its far from where I'm fighting, i might build 2 of them.Į.g. Then barbarians factions i use the red buildings, dont have any saves for examples currently.Īlso yes i use recruitment provinces where i put all military recruitment buildings and building which buff recruited units. The horse archer factions can also make a lot of money from agriculture. The buildings in the capital all give +% to agriculture. You can still make a lot of money but i think i would have made the same from pure industry too. ![]() Cimmeria, this one is slightly different because CImmeria has a 25% bonus to agriculture so i decided to focus on that. Parthia (current campaign and quite early on).Į.g. Basically though Industry is king for the majority of factions, so stacking all the black buildings balanced by some food buildings and a big public order building (most factions have one either yellow or purple slot).Į.g. I was going to make such a guide and did some testing but unfortunately lost all my saves.
